This stair railing was a commission by a client for a home looking out over a bay. The descending curve of the solid form evokes the wave action of the water and is n constant interplay with the adjacent voids. The tension between the positive and negative elements frequently shifts and gives tremendous energy to the composition. The feathers bring to mind the seabirds and eagles that are often seen soaring overhead. The pile of circles and squares tumbled in the bottom corner may suggest a need to take care in ones descent.
